Well another race is in the books. The day started off with Mr. Wolff driving us to Stanton, NE. The journey was uneventful besides the one turn where Chris was trying to do some Police Academy recreations, just kidding. We got there somewhat late just enough time to get ready and sign the waiver. I guess it was going to be blind first lap. So i sat on people’s wheels and decided to see what is what. I believe I was 7th to the downhill. Predictably dale pinkleman took off and I never seen him again. He either just hid in bushes for 3 hours or just pedaled really hard. Not to be outdone I pushed the tempo a bit and go all the way up to 3rd place. I even channeled my inner shim and stuck an elbow out on someone, which made me feel like less than stellar for reminder of the race. Well the pace was too much and after first lap i slipped to 4th, then to 5th then to 6th. I wasn’t worried that much as the course was pretty open in several places and you can see what your gap is to the people in front of you. The gap stayed constant 2-3 minutes on 3rd place person. So I just did my thing sat in and tried to put some consistent lap times. During the lap number 5 i saw the gap shrink as Todd Eyberg was getting closer and closer. During the pits I grabbed 2 fresh cold water bottles and went to chase him down. The tempo increased and the distance shrunk. At end of the lap I asked for official time 2:35, so which was it, last five miles.I decided to conserve water and not stop at the next lap. Todd was right in front of me on the downhill. In one of the wooden sections I yelled “I’m coming for you Todd” his only answer was “Yup”. I think I knew I had them. I felt like Darth Vader in “Star Wars” where he almost shoots Luke down. Thank God, there was not Han Solo to spoil the moment. Then I saw next guy, Ted right in front of me, well I passed him as well. I asked how far away were 3rd/2nd place guys. He said less than minute. Sure enough in last forested section I saw train about 5 riders couple cat 2 guys and two marathon guys. I kind of ninja the approach, they were all surprised to see me. “Where did you come from?” asked Shawn Hansen, I think I said something like from lolly gagging back there for 2 1/2 hours. I passed 4 of them then ask Craig to let me by before the the prairie section openned up. At that point we were almost done it was time to work on that gap. So i just hammered like a 6 year old chasing and an ice cream truck. Well that worked Shawn came 10 seconds behind me. That was a fun lap, HR monitor shoved 187 as the max. Sweet…
After the race I had me surly beer and some greasy food at Wolf’s den no relation to our drive, mechanic and all around nice guy Chris Wolff. Tonight I will be cleaning the bike and working with some homemade tire sealant and glitter. If you want me to teach you how to make your tires look sparkly now is your chance don’t waste it. So-dak is only 4 days away. We should have good show of people from Omaha and Nebraska.

Uh……save yourself the embarrassment. abstain from using glitter as it does not “flow” with the liquid. just cut your latex mold builder with some regular tire slime and ammonia based window cleaner.
I still think Stans is the best though.

Joshua, tires need to look sexy and feel sexy… that’s what JT would say.
    2 pt latex
    2 pt windex
    1 pt premixed antifreeze
shake it up add some glitter for sexy look
