If you know me, you know I love pork. I have all kind of useful and useless pork trivia and I can talk about preserving meat by smoking and drying for hours. Weirdly only Joshua was willing to talk at length about the given subject. Alas… I can tell you more in person. Last evening i drove to Erstwhile Farm to pick up my organic “better” half of pork. I was really impressed about their operation. All organic fed, free roaming hogs. The owners were super nice and I stayed there for about an hour. Talked at length about land management, organic farming and their plans to actually slaughter the pigs on site and save them the stress of being locked up in trailer to be driven away and popped by some commercial hack and not a butcher.

After saying good byes I loaded my cooler and headed home. Now I have whole pig head in my freeze, yes.. And I scored some extra lard for free. Winter will be good. It’s so sweet to know where your food comes from. If you like to know more about:

Erstwhile Farm

Nebraska Food Coop

So from the farm to you table. It’s awesome to support local farmer and pigs who are not genetically modified and would probably died if you let them go outside… This is reality of hog raising in U.S.

The labor day weekend started off with a bit of weirdness to say the least. Megan got convinced to see come out and see this exibit called. “What is the 99“. Short awnser it’s non denomination christian propaganda unleashed on kids/teens who’s english might or might not be a primary language. I understand that one of the pillars of evengelical church is getting “converts” but grabbing latino base might not be the best approach. I do believe mexico is 97 % Roman Catholic. I also find some problems with the way some rooms were presented. For example a stoner would almost never hangout with someone smoking crack… but i do digress… On the positive note there were several security guard who would fit the bill as member of DOG’s bounty team. Saturday I hit up ponca hills with James, since he’s the only one who would like to ride in the morning, other people have excuses ranging from it’s to early in morning to it’s to Saturday… whatever it might be it’s pretty weak.

Saturday was bogey’s and his wife reception at Jenny’s house.. It was good time good food and keg of Fat Tire as well as the Husker Game.. I didn’t get any BOgasms but i did get a little of a buzz.. Good times for sure. Good work on the reception Bogey and Mrs, Bogey ( I think I can call his wife that now that they are married)

Sunday was pretty hot we hit up Platte for ride it was pretty good a bit too sandy in some spots but great riding. We hit up some parties after making some homemade pizza dough and some pesto mozzeralla cooking. I think we might have to bust out that Pizza stone soon… Parties were well there some guitar hero some johny walker some planning for next year full of riding…. Summer is pretty much over as I had to bust out some long sleeve shirts for morning rides to work.

Sorry for not updates, i was out of town and had some hospital emergencies with my dad who fell off the ladder two weeks ago… This didn’t leave much of time to write or transfer my pictures from my computer to the gallery on this site. Easter was good, I ate way too much.. I finally recieved my new cookbook .I made a been dip form easter dinner at Megan’s parents.

If we in poland, today would be celebrating Dingus, which is pretty fun. you run around town and douse girls with water. After being gone for week i started riding back to work today wind of windy this morning, but that’s nebraska for you. I might need to buy a camera to take some pictures of my commute in the morning the sunrise is pretty spectacular.

I must admit I have developed two new addictions; both came as result of new year. One is the primary coverage with writer strike and lack of good television i have been addicted to wolf blitzer ( who in my mind is tool ; they should never get rid of Arron Brown) and the Microsoft touch screen. I was pretty happy in Iowa and pretty sad and confused in NH as matter of fact if I ever go to New England I will most likely driver trough Quebec and not NH. The other one is my addiction to the vegan/vegetarian food blogs most of the food they make looks lovely and tasty.. With that said I’m thinking about making super nachos or anything super for February 5th in order to celebrate super Tuesday oh yeah.
